An Evening of Classical Guitar – Cameron Sloan & Michael Stoop
Ranging from beloved classical repertoire, to brand new music that is yet to be heard by the public, Cameron and Michael will be presenting an exciting and eclectic programme of solos and duets for classical guitar.
Sloan is a Christchurch-based guitarist, composer and teacher. As a solo performer and chamber musician, he has presented concerts around New Zealand and Australia, featuring music ranging from 16th-century lute repertoire to 21st-century music by New Zealand and Australian composers. Cameron graduated with a Master of Music from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music in 2018, where he studied with the ARIA award winning classical guitarist Tonié Field.
Stoop returned to his hometown of Christchurch in early 2023, after 14 years of studying, performing, composing and teaching in Wellington. Michael is an award-winning guitarist and published composer, and he has devoted much of the last decade to composing new music for the classical guitar. His works have been performed by a number of young New Zealand musicians including Chris Everest, Nicholas Price, Sunny Cheng, and Cameron Sloan.
